Are you currently in therapy but noticing you feel stuck? Does it seem like you continue to be affected by your past without seeing much change? You’re doing the work but still have the intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, nightmares, or negative beliefs about yourself that just will not change.
Maybe you already have a therapist that you feel comfortable with and even though you’re not making enough progress in some areas you don’t want to stop seeing them. Let's be honest—finding a therapist that you connect with is worth its weight in gold!
That’s where we come in. You keep working with your trusted primary therapist and start EMDR therapy with one of our experienced EMDR therapists. We collaborate with your current therapist who knows you well to ensure the best results.
What is adjunct EMDR therapy?
Adjunct EMDR therapy is a goal specific treatment to help you change the way you feel about a past memory or intrusive thought.
Adjunct EMDR therapy typically focuses on specific concerns and is done over a limited period of time. In our role as your adjunctive EMDR therapist, we’ll work closely with your primary therapist to create a customized treatment plan that identifies and targets what you are stuck on.
How does adjunct EMDR therapy work?
Adjunct EMDR therapy sessions can either be done while you continue to see your primary therapist, or you can take a break from your primary therapy while you focus exclusively on EMDR processing.
It's important to note that adjunct EMDR therapy is meant to help increase the effectiveness of therapy with your primary therapist, and is not meant to be a substitute for your therapist. After we've completed our focused EMDR work together, you'll return back to working exclusively with your primary therapist.
